If you’re feeling bored this Sunday, head to Sharrow Vale Road now because it’s market day.
From 12 while 4pm today, this vibrant road full of shops, boutiques and galleries is closed to traffic and filled with stalls. Local businesses sell their wares including cute hand decorated trinket boxes and jewellery and Heeley City Farm have brought along some of their chickens and beautiful lionhead rabbits.
Having not had any breakfast, we instantly got a lincolnshire burger each and bought a tasty looking scottish salmon, prawn and wild rocket tart for later from Billy Balmer’s Food stall.
All the normal shops are open as well as the galleries like Pete McKee’s Month of Sundays and cake cafe, Fancie. If you’ve read my previous post, you’ll know I love the place so I couldn’t pass the opportunity to have a pot of tea and a pistacchio cupcake.
We watched a magician entertaining the crowd as well as a live jazz band and contemplated some handmade bound books.
The market started last year and now rivals the busier and more established Nether Edge market. It’s a great opportunity for local businesses to showcase their produce as
well as us Sheffielders to purchase, drink and devour them. So I think you better go there now.
